काठमाडाैं । नेपाली फुटबलको बागडोर सम्हालेर बसेको अखिल नेपाल फुटबल संघ (एन्फा) नेतृत्व स्वार्थलिप्त नहुँदो हो त राष्ट्रिय महिला लिग सम्पन्न भएर नयाँ लिगको मिति घोषणा भइसकेको हुने थियो। तर विडम्बना गत चैतमा चितवनमा पहिलो चरणको लिग समापन गर्दै वैशाखमा विराटनगमा दोस्रो चरणको लिग घोषणा गरेको एन्फा आफ्नो निर्णयमा अडिग रहेन। तत्कालीन अध्यक्ष कर्माछिरिङ शेर्पा र वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष पंकजविक्रम नेम्बाङ आआफ्नो प्यानल बनाएर असारमा तय चुनावी साधरणसभामा होमिँदा महिला लिग अलपत्र बन्यो।
असारमा पूर्वअध्यक्ष गणेश थापाको आशीर्वाद प्राप्त नेम्बाङ शेर्पालाई हराउँदै अध्यक्षमा निर्वाचित भए। नेपाली फुटबलमा ठूलै छलाङ मार्ने दाबी गरेको नेम्बाङको आगमनले पनि महिला फुटबललाई न्याय प्रदान गर्न सकेन। उनको कार्यसमिति लिगको दोस्रो चरणको आयोजना गर्नबाट पछि हट्यो। कार्यसमिति बैठकले नै महिला लिगको दोस्रो चरणको मिति घोषणा गर्ने निर्णय भए पनि अहिलेसम्म मिति घोषणा भएको छैन।
यसबीच नेपाली महिला फुटबल टोली असोज पहिलो साता काठमाडौंमा सम्पन्न साफ महिला च्याम्पियनसिपमा उपविजेता बन्यो। सेमिफाइनलमा नेपालले भारतसँगको शृंखलाबद्ध हारमा पूर्णविराम लगाएको थियो। तर फाइनलमा बंगलादेशलाई नतिजा सुम्पियो। केही महिनाअघि मात्रै नेपालले बंगलादेशमा सम्पन्न साफ महिला यु–१५ च्याम्पियनसिपको उपाधि जित्यो भने बिहीबार बंगलादेशमै सम्पन्न साफ यु–२० महिला च्याम्पियनसिपमा उपविजेता बन्यो। नेपाली सिनियर महिला टोली सोमबार दुई मैत्रीपूर्ण खेलका लागि भारत प्रस्थान गर्दै छ। नेपाली यु–१७ टोली पनि साफ महिला च्याम्पियनसिप र एसियन कप छनोटको तयारी खेल्दै छ।

If the leadership of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), which is holding the reins of Nepali football, was not self-interested, then the date of the new league would have been announced after the completion of the National Women’s League. But unfortunately, ANFA did not stick to its decision after concluding the first phase of the league in Chitwan last March and announcing the second phase of the league in Biratnag in Baisakh. The women’s league came to a standstill when the then president Karmachiring Sherpa and senior vice president Pankajvikram Nembang formed their own panels and went to the election assembly scheduled in June.
In June, he was elected as the president defeating Nembang Sherpa, who was blessed by former president Ganesh Thapa. Even the arrival of Nembang, who claimed to make a big leap in Nepali football, could not do justice to women’s football. His executive committee backed out of organizing the second phase of the league. Although the working committee meeting decided to announce the date of the second round of women’s league, the date has not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, the Nepali women’s football team became the runner-up in the SAFF women’s championship held in Kathmandu in the first week of August. In the semi-finals, Nepal put an end to the series defeat against India. But the result was handed to Bangladesh in the final. Just a few months ago, Nepal won the title of SAFF Women’s U-15 Championship held in Bangladesh and became the runner-up in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship held in Bangladesh on Thursday. The Nepali senior women’s team is leaving for India on Monday for two friendly matches. The Nepali U-17 team is also preparing for the SAFF Women’s Championship and Asian Cup qualifiers.
